Ely snapped a three-game losing streak on Monday night and rode the pitching of Trevor Bernsdorf to a 7-1 road win against Carlton.
Bernsdorf, making his first start of the season after helping Floodwood to a state tournament berth during the high school season, needed only 76 pitches in a complete game effort on the hill. The righthander allowed only five hits and gave up just a single run in the fourth inning.
By then, Bernsdorf was staked to a 5-0 lead thanks to single Ely tallies in the first and third frames and a three-run outburst in the fourth.
Bernsdorf ripped two doubles, including one that drove in a a run in the fourth, and his younger brother Riley knocked in two runs for the evening.
Sean Fisher helped set the table by going three-for-four with two runs scored. Pat Husiman drove in two runs for Post 248, which evened its record at 4-4.
