Trevor Bernsdorf clubbed two home runs in a rain-shortened game Thursday night, and Ely's VFW baseball teams stayed unbeaten in league play wiht a 10-2 home win over Silver Bay.
Bernsdorf launched two balls over the left field fence and finished with six runs batted in for Post 2717, now 12-2 for the summer.
Riley Bernsdorf doubled and tripled for the winners while both Bobby Shusta and Elliott Omerza went two-for-two. Winning pitcher Louie Gerzin allowed three hits and struck out six.
After a weekend off, the VFW returns to action Monday for the first of three home doubleheaders in as many days. Ely hosts Nashwauk-Keewatin at 5 p.m.
