Three teams have been eliminated today and one more will go before the end of the day, while one team will win a berth in the finals at the Eighth District Division II Legion Baseball Tournament in Ely.
The tournament's last two unbeaten teams - two-time defending champion Ely (24-6) and last year's runner-up Taconite (18-8) - square off at 7:30 p.m. The winner moves on to Sunday's finals while the loser must play tomorrow in the elimination bracket.
In elimination games today:
• Esko 11, Brookston 9;
• Carlton 5, Moose Lake 4 (8);
• Deer River 9, Esko 6.
Carlton and Chisholm are underway now, with the loser out and the winner moving on to meet Deer River at 5 p.m. Saturday.
