The North Subdistrict VFW Baseball Playoffs get underway Saturday in Ely and Soudan and host Ely is one of two top seeds for the eight-team, double-elimination event.
Post 2717, which finished the regular season 21-5, takes on Deer River at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in one of four first-round games. The other top seed is Internatonal Falls (21-3), which swept Ely earlier this week.
The top-four finishers move on to the district tournament, set for July 28, 30 and 31 at Hermantown and Duluth.
